  • WhatsApp adds a reminder feature for Community events.

  • Feature currently in beta, expected to roll out widely soon.

WhatsApp, one of the world’s leading messaging platforms, continues to innovate and refine its offerings. With its growing popularity in the US, each update garners significant attention, and the latest beta version introduces a long-awaited feature: event reminders for Community groups. This addition aims to enhance the functionality of virtual events, a feature launched in April.

The update was uncovered by WABetaInfo in the latest beta release for Android (version 2.24.12.5). Users can now set reminders when creating events within Community groups, a feature that has been conspicuously absent until now. Currently, the event creation page allows users to enter essential details such as event name, description, date, and location and set up a WhatsApp call link. The new reminders option is a significant enhancement, ensuring users never miss important events again.

Upon its full release, users will have three reminder options: 30 minutes, 2 hours, or 1 day before the event. Additionally, users can select up to two reminders for a single event. Another new feature spotted in the beta is the “Allow additional guests” toggle, permitting attendees to bring one guest.

While the feature is still under development and not yet visible to all beta testers, its anticipated utility suggests that WhatsApp developers will expedite its rollout to the stable version. This move underscores WhatsApp’s commitment to improving user experience by integrating thoughtful and practical updates.
