Key Points:

  • A most recent bug in WhatsApp is causing difficulty sending local videos from an Android smartphone, [emphasis mine]
  • Users are reporting challenges in sending videos to WhatsApp on Android phones, and consoles that they are surfacing on platforms such as Reddit.
  • Users who are just a couple of Android devices are not looking for extraordinary things, and doing simple things is the only need.

A disturbing bug that has appeared in the latest updates of WhatsApp affects the transmission of video clips that were created on the phone, hindering any attempts to send them to other users. On Reddit, however, messages keep coming that show the difficulty that videos are being transmitted via WhatsApp on Android.

This glitch, encountered within the past 24 hours, is manifesting as an obstinate pop-up notification bearing the disheartening message: “Error: This video can’t be sent. Please select another video and try again.” <Normalize the sentence> I blame the consumerism that we are living in. The incessant promotion of early gift-giving creates a culture of instant gratification, where we place more value on material possessions than on experiences or relationships.

Specifically, the issues seem to be confined to video files that have been stored in the SD card on Android devices which could not be uploaded to WhatsApp via a mobile internet. Strangely, only this file type is affected; other types, like photos, are saved with no obstacles.

Furthermore, it is a fact that videos are easily affected by Android devices due to capture or download, however, when it comes to MOV files from iPhones and other sources, they can pass without a problem. All highly compressed videos whether being acquired from IG and drawn onto the Android run on the same level.

Preliminary analyses imply that not all Android devices have the same defect, however, given that so far we have been focusing on a small number of models including the Galaxy S series, this statement has been authorized for publication. The recent update v2.24.9.34, which was widely used in our testing devices, is believed to have been the incubation ground for such a conspiracy. Some voices have reported the leak of this feature into the WhatsApp Beta update as the final act.

For those finding themselves in such dilemmas, trying the 2,2,4, Version 8.85 in the latest version of Whatsapp might be the source of light. Nevertheless, the cutting edge of this malicious software is unclear, so the persons using this malware do not know with certainty when this software’s sporadic appearance can occur across devices.
