Tesla fans will be talking about the new Model Y, which will take it to a new level of performance with a range of 606 km. One such possibility is the P79 rear-wheel drive which could break new ground for those who want extended range without the punch of the dual motor long-range version which is currently hampered with a range value of 533 kilometres.
Still, don’t get your mind too high just yet. This announcement was made during the refresh process and before Tesla made an official announcement. This generally silent (and largely silent) company doesn’t disclose anything on the subject, leaving us with unanswered questions.
Despite recent comments from Tesla’s CEO about the long-term possibility of adding a longer-range and rear-wheel-drive Model Y to the market, there doesn’t seem to be a clear focus on a US version at this time. Nevertheless, rumors are floating around pointing towards possible production volumes in China and Germany.
The only time that can definitively reveal the facts here is tomorrow. Tesla’s strategy to keep us guessing is something that may last forever rather than a moment, but it’s certainly piquing curiosity among Coolah City Electric heads about electric cars.
