TalkBack gets audio fingerprint hints in Android 15

Oh, this is amazing! Now visually impaired Android users will not have to face this problem. The latest Android 15 Beta 1 update brings a much-needed accessibility feature: the prompt to use audio for fingerprint unlock with TalkBack. Strict Standards: Non-static method modRewrite_Analyzer::getCachedLink() should not be called statically, it should be considered from an inconsistent context in /homepages/38/d161647075/htdocs/clickandbuilds/WordPress610979/wp-content/plugins.

The audio feature registering fingerprints with the help of talkback was not available earlier. The film reads assured the rum was in the right place but still added to the closed feel. This can be very frustrating and is sometimes not indicated, for example, an in-display fingerprint scanner that shows physical signs.

Android 15 beta1 puts Android closer to ideal. Today, following small changes to the lock screen fingerprint unlock process, visually impaired TalkBack users are given clearer instructions. Look for prompts that tell you to “Slide your finger right,” “Press harder,” or “Enrollment finished, 78% scanned.” This kind of guide mainly makes it easier to unlock the phone with your hand rather than someone’s vision.

I was looking forward to this event, but I didn’t realize how badly I wanted it in my life. With the increasing preference for in-display scanners, this has become more important than just practicality. The functionality isn’t new as it’s a clear match with Google’s Pixel 6 series, but rather it should have been released earlier with the Pixel 6 which was still the first of its kind with an under-display fingerprint sensor.

We’re lucky, considering that Aisha(ng) Google users like Steven Clark (@blindandroid) have requested it, that Android 15 finally gets this important accessibility feature. This small change has worked very well for the blind and visually impaired members of the society.
