Key Points:

  • Pixel Launcher search results have received a uniform redesign, enhancing clarity and consistency.
  • Web search suggestions are now distinctly labeled and accessible via a new “Web Search” option.
  • The redesign includes a streamlined approach with text emphasis over icons, benefiting various result categories.

Google has implemented a subtle yet impactful redesign for the Pixel Launcher, aiming to create a more uniform and cleaner display for both web and local search results across phones and tablets.

Firstly, web search suggestions are now clearly labeled. Instead of the previous Dynamic Color-themed magnifying glass icon, a “Web Search” label appears at the top, accompanied by an arrow that opens the Google app. This text-focused approach simplifies the interface, enhancing user clarity.

This redesign extends to other search result categories such as Play Store, Settings, Search in Apps, Contacts, and Pixel Tips. Notably, app icons within Google Play search results are now encased in circles, aligning with the overall streamlined aesthetic. Furthermore, when applications and their shortcuts are displayed, the new design showcases an additional shortcut, improving usability.

Another significant change is the removal of the high-level “From your apps” grouping, which contributes to a more concise search result presentation. This refreshed search interface rolled out through a server-side update, impacting users on both the stable version of Android 14 and the Android 15 Beta.

Overall, this redesign of the Pixel Launcher search enhances user experience by prioritizing text and clarity, providing a more consistent and aesthetically pleasing interface.
