Pixel 9 Pro Fold might be a full-fled flagship

The search giant is bringing a major change to the Google Pixel and its phone lineup. Not only are they introducing a smaller “Pro” model to the Pixel 9 series, but there may also be a surprise fourth member joining the party: the Pixel 9 Pro Fold: the next IoT revolution. This brings failure to Google which is different from any other manufacturer. They integrated foldables into their main products instead of just having versions of them.

Previously, Google launched Pixels at two annual events: a fall show to showcase flagships, and a spring show for low-budget offerings. The flagship foldable (2023) was launched in May with an older spec pattern and the Pixel 8 was launched later than the previous one.

Hopefully, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold could be a new step away from the current strategy. It is also rumored to have the same flagship Tensor G4 chip as the Pixel 9 and may have a similar design appearance. This integration is, obviously, a moneymaker – Google isn’t the first phone maker to happily embrace foldables in its top-end handset lineup.

This significant revolution reflects Google’s stance towards foldables. While competitors have different folding lines (think Samsung Galaxy Z), Google will likely treat the Pixel Pro 9 Fold as a premium brand and not something exclusive.

Google’s changes in handling the news prove it to be a fascinating change from the company’s initial attitude towards the foldable Pixel Fold. This feature change, along with the possible name change and feature alignment of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, is highly likely to mark the beginning of a truly competitive flagship foldable experience series for the Pixel family. We’ll be particularly interested to know what happens next as they attempt to achieve these wild ambitions.
