Google has rolled out the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.2 update for Pixel devices, addressing significant issues just in time for a stable release expected in early June. This update, nearly two months after the previous one, is crucial for those not transitioning to Android 15 yet.
The update, coded AP21.240305.006, comes with the May 2024 security patch, initially scheduled for March. It supports a range of Pixel devices, including the Pixel 5a, 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Tablet, Fold, 8, and 8 Pro. However, there’s no build for the Pixel 8a, and due to an over-the-air (OTA) issue, only factory images are available for manual installation.
The Beta 2.2 update addresses several key issues:
- Mobile Data Stability: Fixed problems causing mobile data connections to drop despite strong cellular signals, resolving multiple related issues (Issue #322380000, #315328193, #318593420, #327884305).
- System Stability and Connectivity: Various other fixes have been implemented to enhance the overall stability and connectivity of the system.
In April, Google advised users who prefer to stay on the Android 14 Beta Program to ignore Android 15 Beta 1 to continue receiving minor updates until the final stable QPR3 release.
Consequently, all eligible Pixel devices in the Android Beta for Pixel program, that have not updated to Android 15 Beta, will receive an OTA update to Beta 2.2. This ensures that users benefit from the latest improvements without transitioning to the next major OS version prematurely.
