Following several updates announced at I/O 2024, Google Wallet has introduced PayPal support on Wear OS, making it easier for users in the US and Germany to make payments directly from their smartwatches. This new feature allows users to pay for everyday items like coffee without needing to pull out their phones.

In addition to this, the Google Home app has also been updated to include a Favorites Tile and complication, allowing for quick access to smart devices from Wear OS.

Google Wallet has strengthened its security for contactless payments by adding an extra layer of verification. Users will now need to confirm their identity using a PIN, pattern, thumbprint, or Face Unlock before making a payment. There is also an option to disable verification for transit fares to streamline the process.

On the automotive front, Google is expanding the reach of Android’s Digital Car Keys. Initially available for select MINI models, this feature will soon be compatible with vehicles from Mercedes-Benz and Polestar. This integration allows users to lock, unlock, and start their cars using just their phones. Additionally, users can securely share their digital car keys with family and friends, enhancing convenience and flexibility.
