Key Points:

  • Google Search recently added an AI-based “Speaking Practice” tool to improve English speaking classes.
  • The functionality gives learners the opportunity to engage in interactive exercises that were created to strengthen the ability to articulate words while not aiming to be a full language learning platform.
  • First introduced in some countries such as Argentina, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Venezuela, individuals can access the software from Search Labs after enrolling.

Google has unveiled an unprecedented tool for English language learners: a search that will introduce an AI feature called “Speaking Practice.” This success is an effort to redefine the approach to learning to further enhance English speaking proficiency.

Although it may sound like science fiction, this future is possible and just emerging. For example, a tweet from @howfxr revealed that Google recently launched a new feature on its site that enables users to improve their English skills through various apps and tools. Unlike most traditional language teaching techniques the aim of this software tool is to develop practical applications where scenarios and vocabulary are being repetitively reinforced by audiovisual teaching before each conversation part.

As claimed by Google, it is the AI interactive process that continuously works on helping users intelligently incorporate new vocabulary into their speech that is going to be successful. To activate the feature, users need to launch Search Lab and tap “Try an Example” after translating English to English on Google Search using an Android device.

Nevertheless, Google launched its low-penetration phase in select countries such as Argentina, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Venezuela. The company plans to launch this service in other countries in the future. Also, in order not to darken the enthusiasm, applicants need to sign up for “Search Labs” in order to correctly apply and apply the “speaking practice” tool.

This new tool is part of Google’s effort to use AI more to benefit language learners, since Google introduced a similar tool in early 2023. Not only the user-centric design, but the innovative approach has made it Google’s language learning technology a leading learner for the next era.
