Google has released a new update for Chromecast with Google TV that adds fast pairing and a new audio output switcher. According to the latest report, the latest update brings the Android security patch level to Jan 2024 and the update comes with the version number STTE.231215.005 (from STTL.231114.004) and the update size is 169MB.
This update fixes some bugs and improves performance. There are two major changes made for users in this version. First up, Fast Pair is now available on Chromecast with Google TV. When you open your Pixel Buds Pro case, you’ll get a notification telling you that your device is ready to connect. You can connect quickly by selecting the prompt.
Second, Quick Settings now has a new switcher called “Audio Output”. This allows you to control where your audio goes, such as to your TV or other device. It was demonstrated by Google at CES.
When you click the “Audio Output” switcher, you’ll see options for HDMI and other devices. There’s also a shortcut to connect to another device.
There is no need to upgrade the Chromecast remote firmware. The last update was less than a month ago and included the December 2023 security patch. In 2023, Google released six upgrades for Chromecast along with Google TV.
