Key Points:
- Google One’s “Support” tab is now removed from the app, suggesting a deprioritization of this feature.
- Users can still access support, but the process is now more cumbersome, requiring navigation through the app’s help section.
- This change aligns with other recent adjustments in Google One’s offerings, such as the introduction of AI Premium and the upcoming removal of VPN.
In recent months, Google One has seen significant shifts, including the introduction of an AI Premium tier, free access to previously paid Google Photos tools, and the impending removal of VPN on June 20. Amidst these changes, Google One has quietly removed the “Support” tab from its app, potentially indicating a shift in prioritization for user support services.
When Google One launched in 2018, it proudly advertised 24/7 access to Google experts. However, on Android, the app’s bottom bar now only displays Home, Storage, and Benefits, with the Support tab conspicuously absent. Previously, the Support section, marked by a heart icon, offered quick access to phone, chat, and email support, along with Pro Sessions, popular articles, and support history.
Now, to seek help, users must navigate through the app’s “Help” section via the navigation drawer or visit the support website directly. This change makes accessing support less straightforward and suggests that Google may be deprioritizing this feature. Notably, the “Access to Google experts” perk has disappeared from the Google One website since mid-April.
Despite this, support remains available, although the experience has become less user-friendly. Google has not officially announced these changes, focusing instead on new features like AI-powered editing tools in Google Photos. As Google One continues to evolve, users may need to adapt to these shifts in service and support availability.
