Google is coming in with a new one-off feature for you to color the chats the way you like replacing the boring blue bubbles.
Do you remember the olden days of November when Google put out a billboard with advertisements about this feature? Here we go then, like the wait is for some people lucky enough to get a sneak peek. This update brings a vibrant splash to versions 20240228 to 20240308 of the app, but there’s a catch: still, it’s not just the app that counts. Aside from the wonder of the search engine, there is even more enchantment happening in Google’s servers.
Here’s the exciting part: these unique colors are available only with RCS chats hence you can leave the bland talk on the side in the conversation of rich expressive features. Not to mention, for now, SMS threads will remain in their standard monochrome look.
Time for you to let your creative genius show? It’s simple! You simply have to touch the three dots in any Google Messages chat, the menu will have “Change colors” as one of the options. Feeling adventurous? There’s another route. Scroll to the chat details tab (you can find it by clicking the three dots button again) and choose ‘Change colors” under images and videos.
Here comes the fun part: translating the colorful masterpiece in your head (i.e. choosing the color palette)! A whole other screen will appear with nine brilliant options, including colon default, debonair blue, buoyant purple, and other attention-grabbing colors. Feeling indecisive? The playful theme in the menu uses your device wallpaper as the base and gives the whole experience a rich and personalized look.
Yet, you are not done with the magic. It is not just your message bubbles that you theme but it goes beyond that. It handles the overall theme of chat elements in such a manner, that the users feel the personalization in the experience, every time.
The fact that you can always change your mind is the plus in this situation worries! The “Change” button which is located nearby will assist you in switching back to the common theme or trying the alternative color variation.
Now, here’s a heads-up: if your friend on the other end of the chat hasn’t received the update yet, they won’t see your colorfully customized messages.
