Imagine you’re using the Google Meet app on your phone and the ‘mute, camera on/off, and end call’ controls are grouped in a handy bar at the bottom of the screen. This is Google’s anticipated feature, which they may be testing for sections of Meet within the Gmail application.
It seems that the recently updated chat section in Gmail now uses a similar floating bar interface that the innovative design once mentioned employs. The lead button belt on Google Meet is likely to include the mute button, camera button, and quit conference button which can be shifted to the left for easier operation.
To achieve this, mobile Google Meet will get a call control section, just like its desktop version. Additionally, it simplifies settings making it easy to control your calls with the press of a button.
Although this redesign has only been adopted in the Gmail app for now, surely the independent Meet app will also be given the same design in the future. Still, you should be aware that the search engine giant can always change the look or completely remove the new look later.
However, by balancing the convenience floating bar along with the many aspects of UI consistency across devices, we can see why Google would decide it’s time to polish and release its latest refresh very soon. And you are hereby informed that now you can enjoy potentially hassle-free Google Meet on Android again!
Google might tweak its video call UI (inside the Gmail app, and maybe Google Meet as well) a little bit to make it similar to the web UI.
