While the current incarnation of Google’s Assistant, Gemini, is on its way to undergoing a full upgrade โ a “conversation” mode is what is now being officially introduced. This promising feature, it translates to the fact that the entire communication flow is made seamless and exciting like a natural conversation.
For this version, conversation mode will not mean that every request must be made manually as is the case now where intentionally prompting action is a key aspect of interaction. Imagine that you and your memory interact with a friend over and over again, just as you would in a regular conversation. Furthermore, Gemini’s ease of access will be on the upside without a hint of exaggeration.
The conversation mode was based on a teardown done by AssembleDebug, an enthusiastic tech detective. It was only after running the screenshot that I noticed a mysterious item in the menu bar of the Gemini window โ the icon could be an indication of new functions being added. Tapping this icon currently crashes the app, the crash log confirms the name: The value the bot is going to guess will be “CONVERSATION_MODE”.
The feature is also similar to Google Assistant’s “continuous conversation” mode, where questions are automatically recognized by the technology, eliminating the need for constant activation. What form of talkative mode Gemini plans to implement has not been revealed yet. It may be worse, but it may also take inspiration from the translator mode provided by Google Translate.
Elizabeth is still speculating on the release date and despite this, it demonstrates Google’s dedication to creating a platform that will turn Gemini into a smart and user-friendly assistant. However, this is just one side of the overall layout, with a “React interface”, an improved operating mode when windowed, and music playback when using Spotify coming soon. The prospects for Gemini’s involvement in human-machine interaction look the best yet.
