Remember “Fitbit by Google”? This is history. Google is streamlining its wearable devices under the banner of “Google Fitbit.” This subtle change reflects a bigger one: Google has figured out a way to break into this wearable fitness tracker ecosystem.

For a long time, “Fitbit by Google” has been displayed with a single “Fitbit” name. However, the company’s website, which was recently redesigned, removed “by Google” as its suffix and displayed “Google” in its place, printed in bold. Not to forget, the Fitbit logo comes with a capital letter “F” and a word font that is iconic to Google. This makes it quite clear that Fitbit’s identity is slowly merging with Google’s identity.

This integration follows Google’s announcement in January to unify Google’s separate hardware teams into a unified line of products (Pixel, Nest, and Fitbit). This indicates that the integrated team will come up with software ranging from wearable device design to engineering and development. In addition, some important Fitbit managers have left, who said that they are ready to work together and can succeed if they stand together.

We are not doing anything just to give a new name to the organization. , Google is showing that it is developing for the sports watches market. Google’s acquisition of Fitbit could provide it with enough expertise to compete with other industry-leading players for wearable tech market share. The new Google Store, which is stocked exclusively with Fitbit accessories, is pursuing this same mission.

Therefore, Fitbit is now an independent company that (although owned by Google) belongs to the company’s umbrella brand with its well-known logo. The transformation of both companies into joint competitors for other wearable gadgets means they will now take their place as a force to be reckoned with.
