Remember the lock screen widget? Although they were not seen in some recent builds, they are now back and even better! First of all, smartphone users – don’t count the chickens before they hatch, this comeback may be limited to tablets only.

This news has been posted by Mishaal Rehman, popularly known as Android, who works for the website of a digital technology company named 9to5 Google. Secondly, he’s struggling to find some evidence in the first Android beta about downloads of lock screen widgets that are linked to Home Mode on Pixel tablets. By docking your tablet into the terminal, you will be able to easily command smart home mode.

So, why only pills? It was observed that mobile phones with smaller screen sizes could not fully accommodate the design of the widget. But tablet users, rejoice! This scenario could be the equivalent of taking a look at the weather the next time you have to attend a meeting or, perhaps, even controlling your music without unlocking your device.

There is more good news. A click on the Hub Mode settings is where you have the option to choose from a large assortment of widgets. These widgets include important Google apps like Calendar and Gmail. Are you feeling adventurous? You may even be able to feed your most-loved third-party apps via widgets!

There will be phone users who will be left out right now, but Google could still offer an experience similar to what’s available through the At a Glance widget. (Right now, Google has this exclusive to Pixel phones) All the important information is bombarded right on your home screen with this personalized widget that you can stay tuned to.

Therefore, the screen lock with widgets in Android 11 is another sign of the great evolution of the tablet experience. That said, the road to comprehensively improved lock screen functionality is still a long way off, but the prospects are still promising.
