Start your workday off right! Google Chrome is testing a new functionality to save your time and emotions. You may have seen this many times—it’s called “link preview,” and it lets you take a quick look at the web page a link will point you to, without opening a new tab.

Imagine you are reading an article that has a lot of links just like you are. The problem is that earlier we had to click on the link and open it in a new tab as a window would pop up every time to see if it had the information we needed. Now using Link Preview, you can do this in one click by simply holding down the Alt key and moving the mouse over the hyperlink. There will be a combo option in a small window depicting the scenery in front of you.

This function, which is currently in its beta phase, involves ongoing experiments by Google on various aspects related to link preview activation. Initially, it had right-click and everything from the menu had to be selected first. Now, they are in the testing phase of Alt+hover technology.

Some users may think that link previews are a really quick way to favorite a website, while others may find it better to follow the traditional method of opening links in a new tab. However, the positive side of the story is that Chrome Canary, the development platform where new features are tested, allows you to have a personalized experience, and you decide for yourself whether it works or not.
