Internet surfing can lead one to a virtual minefield, with malicious websites ready to disrupt functionality at every turn. However, the trendsetter, Google Chrome, is no longer just your ordinary browser as it is now more secure than ever, so you can surf the internet without any hesitation.
Here’s why: For years, Chrome’s Safe Browsing feature has been populated with a local list that’s used to filter out dangerous websites. Problem? These bad actors appear randomly on websites and chat services, and they can disappear in an instant. The 60-minute update interval increased the risk of users being exposed.
To allow users to stay safe while browsing the web, Google is introducing a Safe Browsing option that is always active. For this purpose, Chrome has been modified to prevent them from being added manually via a server-side list that is eventually updated to check against them. Therefore, vulnerability to cyber threats will likely reduce dramatically.
Think of it this way: Picture yourself making a trip to an extensive museum, monitoring the security of an old-fashioned paper map. Now imagine the guard not knowing what will happen on the screen, but rather watching moving images that will change in real time. This will be the difference between secure browsing in the current environment and secure browsing in real-time.
The best part here is: that nothing is being done to your device, your privacy is not disrupted and everything is done retroactively, without your knowledge. In this way, Google hides the real addresses of websites by using security-related tools like encryption and hashing so that no one knows which web pages someone has visited.
It is expected to have a significant impact on health programming. Google ensures that 25% more phishing attacks, or to put it differently, attempts to steal your data, will be blocked using Safe Browsing in a real-time model.
Thus, the next time you are browsing the web, rest assured that Chrome is working diligently behind the scenes and you are well ahead of online threats including scams, malware, and phishing.
