This is something to think about for those who use iCloud, the cloud computer network offered by Mac. Not yet, just “delete” these files. This is a bug in the previous macOS Sonoma 14.4 update that removed previous versions of iCloud files much to the chagrin of those looking to “optimize Mac storage.”
Typically, macOS keeps track of what you’ve previously edited, so you can use it again if needed. Their overhaul also complicates matters. If you decide to delete some files from your disk storage (to get rid of data), this action will also get rid of all existing versions of these files. They are usually lost forever, and when you download the file again it will not reappear, even if you try.
