Based on media reports, the tech giant, Apple, may consider licensing Google’s high-tech AI, Gemini, to improve features on the upcoming iPhones. This collaboration will establish a solid R&D base for Apple that will be able to understand many AI innovations in this or that area and potentially discover the first AI-based iPhone features in several months.
This report comes as Apple is already facing criticism for starting the AI race. Competitors like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI are also not far behind as they have made great strides in the field of artificial intelligence, which is now becoming very common. Apple’s Tim Cook has acknowledged the increase in demand in the past, but he has confirmed the introduction of innovative Gen-AI features in new iPhones by the end of the year.
While Apple is expected to have in-house AI models for on-device tasks, the company is aiming to use Google’s cognitive capability for more sophisticated goals.
