The future of Android will not pass by, we love dark mode on all apps, even if it changed the colors to black and white. A recent teardown of the APK by Mishal Rahman reveals a potential game-changer: “Force Dark Mode” system-wide on an application-by-application basis.

For many people, dark mode has become just a flavor. This helps them not strain their eyes in the dark and probably also helps their phone battery last longer. Still, if some apps, which keep using dark design motifs, do not join the trend then there is a big visual clash between the apps. Consider the friend who knows exactly how much-balanced nutrition you need and when, and then the friend launches an annoying, blinding app.

Failed development, “override force-dark” under developer options is surprising yet has very little contrast. Dark mode’s horizontal legibility may adversely affect the readability of text.

Dark Mode on iOS has been a notable product. Thus, the upcoming, meaning “darken all apps”, feature promises to go a step further. The display of the Settings menu with user-friendly settings on the side, underscores Google’s intention to give the user control over the visual appeal of the app. Initial screenshots give us an idea of the better comprehensive dark mode, for example, the execution in the Fitbit and Amazon apps looks more polished rather than the current hard and abrupt one.

Please keep in mind that this functionality is a lab and is still under development. It is unclear regarding its exact form and the fact that this will allow it to be included in the official release of Android 15. Still, it’s clear given the few glimpses it’s shown in the developer preview, it’s easy to see that Google wants users to feel empowered and in control of their visual appearance.

In the current case, the Android 15 beta version 1.2 update released by Google immediately addressed the concern that the NFC tap-to-pay function was not working in the latest version. These modifications will be deployed to Pixel devices ranging from the Pixel 6 series to the latest Pixel 8 series along with fixes for previously announced bugs.
