Almost four years in the past, Google released the first Chromecast with Google TV, which wasn’t exactly a technological wonder. It came with distinctly slow hardware and limited memory, falling quickly in comparison to comparable offerings like Amazon’s Fire TV. In 2024, Google is probably aiming to cope with those weaknesses and compete more efficiently.
Recent clues suggest Google is working on a new Chromecast with Google TV. Hints were found in the source code of Google apps, containing software similarities specific to Chromecast devices and not seen in devices from other manufacturers.
While the existence of a new Chromecast seems likely, it’s unclear if it’s nearing a market launch. Unfortunately, details about the potential hardware specifications are also unavailable at this time.
Stay tuned for further updates as we learn more about this potential new device and whether Google can address the shortcomings of its previous Chromecast with Google TV.
