When you were on Android Auto, did you ever have to say a text twice because Google Assistant got it wrong? Then you’ll understand exactly what I mean. you’re not alone. A strange thing that has happened recently is that some users are experiencing this unnecessary playback.
Previously, the process was smooth: you could decide who to send the message to, record your message, confirm, and then send anything you wanted to the recipient. Now, after confirmation, the Assistant reads the message again just before sending it. This is the most frustrating moment as there is a sequence in the whole process and there is no chance of going back.
This appears to be a new bug that has recently been spotted by users on Reddit. Fortunately, it is only active in cases of new threads; Communicating with a third party is not distorted (2 for the sender, if replying happens this way: the assistant reads your reply once before sending).
Although this is not a big issue, the extra repetition adds unnecessary time. Let us pray that they can resolve this issue either by patching it or by undoing the modification.
Interestingly, this comes after Google’s recent update, which introduced a new design for voice message replies and AI summaries for long texts on Android Auto. Let’s hope we can be introduced to a new version that is much easier than the current sending process.
