Google Messages recently got a new skin, functionality, and performance improvements. Enter this updated conversation screen and bottom bar that packs input fields, attachment buttons, and an emoji options area. Users did not take all the changes very well; The redesigned input box, as a modification, was not popular among them either.

In the previous version of the experiments, the input box was placed above the attachment and emoji buttons, meaning these buttons are not common features in popular messaging applications like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Hangouts. Google only cares about user feedback.

Messages beta version 20240404_01_RCO0 (Messages_v20240404.01_Release_CO_Optimized.apk_scan) offers a single-line input box as before. This innovative novelty suits the minimalist tastes of modern users when it comes to messaging apps, where the design is neat and functional. The input box has now moved to the bottom tray and the extra space at the bottom has been removed and there is now only the attachment button (plus sign).
