The gun of love is one of the most powerful types and in the present time, fraudsters are using it to deceive their victims. Google is conscious of this heinous conduct and has now filed a lawsuit against two mobile app developers accused of running a “pig slaughter” scam in the Google Play Store.
The network was created by these same developers and was reportedly located in different parts of China and Hong Kong and using 87 fake crypto trading apps. This marketing is a mixture of romance scams and scams, they leave victims to more than 100,000 people who download the app which can ultimately cause huge losses for that amount of money. Victims claim they had money ranging from $100 to thousands of dollars.
The scam unfolded like this: As a result, developers pushed genuine investing apps directly onto the Play Store. At the same time, criminals (probably groups of hackers) used text messages, pretending to be lovers, to refer potential victims and promote their videos on YouTube. The first sentence may be my reference to pure curiosity, “Hello, I’m Sophia”. The next step will be “Remember me?” If it is possible to get an answer. The conversation would then be restricted to WhatsApp or a similar app, where the friend would eventually blackmail the victim into downloading the fraudulent app and investing.
To further deceive people, they showed fake balances and returns, which were presented in such a way as to create the illusion of investment performance. The point, however, was that they could never hope to access credit. Either the PT would make the victim’s withdrawal request unavailable due to technical glitches or deny access to funds without making additional payments – which, in turn, was also renegotiating one’s loan.
This lawsuit is the first step in the case against technology company Google. By taking legal action, Google aims to not only recover more than $75,000 in damages but also send a strong message: the Play Store is not going to bow down to games and users will not become food for trolls! They will prevent them from committing the same fraud again or recovering the money snatched away during the investigation process.
