Smartphone users, get ready for pervasive touch-based embedded technology! Google recently reported that Apple intends to introduce RCS messaging to iPhones as early as this year. Subsequently, this translates into more smooth communication across the entire system, no matter what phone you’re walking around with [iPhone or Android device].

RCS, called Rich Communication Services, has benefits that SMS, the standard type of text messaging, does not have. The quality of picture and video transmissions is clear and detailed, and you see the typing indicator at all times when someone is typing a reply, the most intuitive discussions in group chats are now possible. This is what RCS provides: an add-on to the Internet services we are accustomed to.

Apple had initially just announced that their deployment of RCS would begin in mid-2023, without giving any timetable. This brings news from Google after the arrival of the widely anticipated iOS 18 release. It is also anticipated that this will likely happen this fall as well.

They can also integrate sticker packs or amusing emoji reactions, as few messaging apps do to date.

Although originally built for RCS, some features within Google Messages are still under the hood. These are dream screens and custom bubbles that give special mentions to your chat partner. In addition to introducing Voice Moods, an AI-enabled tool that creates a connection between you and your voice messages, we are also looking at implementing gesture controls for easier access.

Essentially, this is a step towards a brand message that is unified across different smartphone brands. Prepare yourself to share detailed photos, detect when your friend is typing, and experience a focused texting experience. All of these will be previewed later this year!
